Hi all and Welcome to Spirit’s blog. Today I was asked an interesting question: Why don’t I relate to my Sun sign?

Well there’s a few different reasons but one of the fastest to spot is a planet in very close to an important angle. To find the angles in a person’s birth chart, you need an accurate time of birth.

Important Angles In A Natal Chart

Ascendant/Descendant Axis

This axis contains two important important angles, the Ascendant and Descendant. It runs from East to West.

The Ascendant is also called the Rising sign. This sign tells our first impression, attitude, demeanor, mannerisms and our unconscious nature. This sign rules our subconscious mind and how we act. The Rising sign starts the first house, of self.

The Descendant is 180° away from the Ascendant. It starts a person’s 7th house, the house of relationships. The sign of the Descendant tells about a person’s shadow side, these are the qualities in yourself you suppress. This sign shows everything you are not. Some people even refuse to acknowledge these traits within themselves. The Asc and DC make up the self/other axis.
