Stonehenge, One of the Biggest Mysteries of All Time…
Hi all and welcome to Spirit’s blog. Today I would like to explore the origins of Stonehenge. I wrote a post recently about the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, to be completely honest I was disappointed that Stonehenge was not included. So after wondering and wondering I sought to find the truth, or as much of it as can be found. So now I give you the origins of Stonehenge, to the best of our knowledge.
Stonehenge dimensions and location
Stonehenge is an ancient monument in Wiltshire, England. This circular monument is constructed using large man made, stones that are placed vertically or “standing stones”. The standing stones in this structure measure 13' high, 7' wide and weigh about 25 tons. Archaeologists have dated Stonehenge to roughly 3000 B.C. to 2000 B.C.
Stage 1 Construction
The exploration of Stonehenge confirms that it was created in three phases, the following is stage 1. Archaeologists believe Stonehenge started as a circular bank, with a ditch inside. The entire structure is enclosed by Seaford Chalk, a limestone based chalk like substance that was believed to be used in the late Cretaceous period.
